Ukraine U18 come back from Moscow
 

Ukrainian U18 selection traveled to Moscow to take part at the 2009 Gomelsky Cup. Our juniors clinched one win in three games and occupied the third overall position.

Ukraine came up short against Belarus 56:62 in the opener. CSKA junior team also turned out victorious 51:45 against our youngsters. Nevertheless Ukraine U18 proved their ambitions with a comfortable 78:57 victory on the final day of the tournament.

U18 team secure Division A spot
 

Ukrainian U18 selection posted a crucial win over Czech Republic counterparts to secure the European Championship in Division A place for the next season. Ukraine clinched the 14th overall spot in the standings.

Vyacheslav Bobrov stepped up for Ukraine in the decisive encounter. He tallied 35 points and 10 rebounds to ensure a 79:70 victory at the end. Andriy Lebedintsev contributed 13 points for the winners.

Ukraine remain hopeful in France
 

Ukrainian U18 selection stayed in the survival race in the European Championship in Division A. They posted the first victory at the tournament today outscoring Israel 74:69. Our team improved at 1-1 record in Group G and need a win over Czech Republic to hope to secure the spot in the top division for the next season.

Ukraine lose against Croatia, to fight in relegation round
 

Ukrainian U18 selection lost the third straight game at the European Championship in France. They came up short against the Croatian team 69:73 to occupy the fourth place in preliminary Group B.

Kostyantyn Anikiyenko delivered 13 points and 12 boards to lead Ukraine. Oleksandr Porkopenko added 12 points in the loss.

Ukraine will now face Greece on Monday in the relegation round.

No luck against Spain
 

Ukrainian U18 team suffered the second straight defeat at the European Championship in France. They were beaten by Spain 74:97 to remain in the fourth position in preliminary Group B.

Ukraine led by 2 points after the starting quarter but conceded an 11:24 run from Spain in the second frame to trail by 11 points at halftime. Oleg Ruban’s team never recovered losing the battle.

Ukraine open U18 European Championship with loss
 

Ukrainian U18 team lost to Germany 77:100 in the European Championship opener in Hagondange yesterday. Leading by 9 points at halftime Ukraine wasted all of their advantage in the second half and suffered a stunning defeat at the end.

Oleksandr Lypovyy notched 21 points and 4 assists to pace Ukraine. Andriy Lebedintsev added 20 points in the loss.

Ukraine will next take on Spain on Friday.
